The Cleaver Family
In January 2000, Colin & Bron Cleaver moved to St. Petersburg to join the OM (Operation Mobilisation) team in Russia. After 7 months of intensive language study, they moved to Novosibirsk in Siberia. They live in an area of Novosibirsk called “Severo-Chemskoi” – a generally poor, residential area. In addition to leading the OM team in the city, they are actively involved in their local church - working with children, teenagers, young adults, preaching and teaching.
With a student population of 140,000, the need for discipleship in Novosibirsk is huge. Colin & Bron's vision was to set up and organise an OM Discipleship Centre for young people in Novosibirsk, with an emphasis on evangelism and mission. The Centre opened in September 2006, with the first group of 8 students. The Centre provides 6-month courses with four main areas of focus
- Classroom teaching
- Spirituality
- Ministry
- Practical work
As well as meeting a need in various ministries in the city, the vision is that the Centre will also motivate and train younger people for the harvest further afield - throughout the Novosibirsk Oblast and beyond. Colin and Bron have two children, a daughter, Emily Larisa, born in April 2003 and a son, Jonathan Colin, born in April 2005.
